Eleganza in collina

A luglio sono iniziati i primi caldi e io mi sono rifugiata in collina. La cittadina di Fiesole rappresenta un compromesso perfetto perché è vicinissima a Firenze, di cui si gode della vista sottostante, e perché ha i vantaggi della vita di paese: ci sono botteghe autentiche, ci si conosce tutti, e la mia presenza è stata subito notata. Normale quando si ha con sé una borsa geometric minimal shopper Linda Damiani. C'è un posto in particolare dove vado a fare la colazione che sembra essersi fermato agli anni sessanta: la pasticceria Alcedo dove dietro a un bancone pieno di delizie delle signore dai modi cortesi mi viziano ogni mattina. Fiesole ha nei suoi dintorni ville eleganti e curate: Villa Peyron con i suoi giardini all'italiana è un ottimo posto dove cercare refrigerio dalla calura estiva. Camminando tra le siepi basse e curate mi sono sentita come una nobildonna inglese durante un Grand Tour. Ho assistito a un concerto di musica nell'Anfiteatro Romano, sempre di Fiesole, apprezzando la cornice unica e raffinata, ma ho avuto modo anche di dedicarmi allo shopping, trovando a L’Occhiale dei modelli Otello, occhiali in cuoio che mi hanno fatto innamorare. Luglio in questo modo è volato via, come un sogno nobile.

A trip to the hillside

In July, the summer started getting hot, so I left Florence for the hillside. The village of Fiesole represents a compromise between city life and countryside, because it is not far from Florence - you can still see and admire the city from the hills - and because at the same time you have all the advantages of living in a village: there are some authentic shops and everybody knows each other. My style got noticed, naturally, because I was wearing my geometric minimal shopper by Linda Damiani. There is a special place where I have breakfast when I am in Fiesole, it looks like it is stuck in time: Alcedo pastry shop. The nicest waiters in the world work here and they spoil me every morning by giving me all their delicious sweet creations. Nearby Fiesole, you can visit the most elegant villas, one of them, Villa Peyron, is the perfect spot to find some peace during the hot days. You can wander through its Italian style gardens, walking around its well-refined hedges I personally felt like an English Lady during a Grand Tour. I watched a music concert in the Roman amphitheater of Fiesole, the location was spectacular: elegant and unique. I also found some time to go shopping: I went to L’occhiale where I fell in love with Otello, a special pair of glasses, whose frame is leather-wrapped, with a steel core. So, July has come to an end and I have lived it like a queen.

Villa Peyron

Villa Peyron”, nota anche come “Bosco di Fonte Lucente”, con il suo Giardino formale, l’ampio Parco, i Boschi e gli Oliveti intorno, si trova in una bellissima posizione sulle colline di Fiesole, un punto panoramico da cui è possibile godere di una bellissima vista su Firenze e sul Castel di Poggio. Un’oasi di sogno e di pace. La proprietà deve il nome alla presenza di un rigoglioso bosco, dal quale emergono i giardini all'italiana e una fonte cinquecentesca posta a monte della villa, che fornisce per caduta l'acqua necessaria al funzionamento delle numerose fontane e di un laghetto.

The villa, known also as “Bosco di Fonte Lucente” with the formal garden and the vast park, the wood and the olive grove, enjoys a splendid location and offers a spectacular view over Florence and Castel di Poggio. An oasis of peace and dreams. The place takes its name from a sixteenth Century spring that flows in a thick wood uphill from the villa and which by effect of gravity supplies the water necessary to work the many fountains in the garden and a small lake.

Teatro Romano Fiesole

Gli scavi nell'area archeologica di Fiesole comprendono un teatro romano, le terme, un tempio etrusco-romano e un museo archeologico. Si trovano tra via Duprè, via delle Mura Etrusche e via Bandini. Contiene reperti dal III secolo a.C. al II secolo d.C.Il Teatro è costruito secondo i modelli greci (cioè sfrutta la naturale pendenza del terreno, scavato per realizzare i gradini della cavea) e venne costruito al tempo di Silla ed abbellito da Claudio e da Settimio Severo. Quello di Fiesole è tutt’ ora considerato uno dei teatri romani più antichi esistenti (i primi sorsero a Roma soltanto all’ inizio del II secolo a.C.).La gradinata superiore è distrutta, mentre quelle inferiori sono ben conservate. Il teatro viene tuttora usato per varie rappresentazioni teatrali e musicali.Tra gli eventi più famosi: l'Estate fiesolana.

The Archaeological Area of Fiesole contains a Roman Theatre, the Thermal Baths, a Roman temple, and an archeological museum. It is located in Fiesole, at the crossroads of via Duprè, via delle Mura Etrusche and via Bandini. It contains artifacts from the 3th century BC to the 2nd century AD. The theatre was built according to the Greek model: the building has a huge half-round cavea, created directly in the rock of the hill. It was built under Silla and decorated by Claudius and Septimius Severus. The theatre of Fiesole is considered one of the most ancient roman theatres still existing (the first ones were built in Rome at the beginning of the 2nd century BC). The superior staircase has been destroyed, whereas the inferior one is still well preserved. The theater is still used for theatrical and musical performances. Among the most famous events: l'Estate Fiesolana (Summer in Fiesole).
